Summer is over

Summer’s over – and that’s just fine

For us, summer—the whole summer—was basically one long, exhausting project: lots of work, long days, and far too little sleep.
Well… at least for Mom. For the rest of us, it was exciting, full of naps, and pretty much fine days—maybe just a little too noisy, and a bit too much sawdust.

But now it’s over.
We’re back to a normal life again, with furniture exactly where it belongs.

And what a fall it is!
We’re enjoying it to the fullest, and we’re literally reaping the rewards of nature. Mom is digging up potatoes, and we’re busy catching mice. Yes, there are so many mice that the only one who isn’t tired of it—and actually cheers at every catch—is Jonatan.

He drags absolutely everything with him—dead, alive, and even the ones still stuck in the trap. Just as proud and satisfied every single time.

It’s definitely a mouse year.
Our one-day record? 13 mice! And after a couple of months, mealtime is starting to feel a bit… repetitive. So sometimes we just toss mice onto the porch or the yard—because we can’t come inside without being thoroughly searched from nose to tail. Sometimes we even get shaken just to make sure we’re not hiding anything in our fur…

Mouse year or not, we’re getting ready for snow, and preparing the farm for winter.
First on the list: clean the chicken coop so the hens have a cozy, fresh space for more indoor time.

It’s always satisfying to get a proper cleaning done.
And, of course, we lined up all the cats for one last inspection before the hens moved into their sparkling new home.

Poor Kasper

Monday started like so many others at our house — until Kasper came back inside, wet, bedraggled, and clearly unwell. A tick bite behind his ear led to a stressful trip to the vet
